Many people have asked whether the Team CMU kit will be available to purchase.
The short answer is yes. If there is sufficient interest, we will order more of them. The price for the full kit (jersey and shorts) is around $100.
They look good and make you go real fast, as these photos of Craig and Kevin demonstrate:
If you are interested, simply let us know by sending an email here. We will be in touch re: sizes, etc. later.
Ideally, we would place an order in early August so that they can be here in time for Menno Cross, CMU’s annual cyclocross race.
The Hot Pursuit photo albums are now up:

See John Brubacher giving Arvid a hug on page B2 of today’s paper. There is also a longer article in the online edition. Read it here.
It was posted this morning, but obviously written before the race was finished. So it’s a little dated. That is why we had Aaron along. To provide prompt articles and an avalanche of tweets. Look for his wrap-up article, coming soon.
After arriving at 2:43 that morning, Team CMU and other supporters greet Arvid Loewen as he arrives by police escort at the Manitoba Legislature.

Team CMU finishes Hot Pursuit race across Western Canada
Beats estimated time of arrival by more than 15 hours
WINNIPEG—It was an exciting and fun-filled end to a journey otherwise filled with anti-climactic moments –- early this morning, Team CMU arrived at Winnipeg’s perimeter, finishing the Hot Pursuit race across Western Canada.
Team member John Brubacher cycled to the finish line at 2:01 a.m. CST, 65 hours after the team’s journey began in White Rock, B.C. The five-person relay team had initially estimated that the trip would take 84 hours and that they would arrive in Winnipeg at 9 p.m. today.
A combination of hard work and good luck allowed them to finish 19 hours early.
“We continually surprised ourselves with how fast we kept going,” team captain Chris Huebner told a crowd of family and friends gathered at the Manitoba Legislative Building as he posed for pictures with the team – rounded out by Jon Guenter, Kevin Kilbrei and Craig Penner – shortly before 3 a.m.
“We thought it was going to slow down – it never did. We had a great tailwind from Calgary on and we probably averaged close to 40 km/h. from Calgary on, which is a lot faster than we thought.”
Hot Pursuit pitted Team CMU against local ultra-marathon cyclist and philanthropist Arvid Loewen in a 2,330 km. round-the-clock race across Western Canada. Team CMU left White Rock 24 hours after Loewen, attempting to catch up with and surpass him – which they did Tuesday, July 20 around 4 a.m. in Swift Current, Sask.
Loewen cycled in support of Mully Children’s Foundation, while CMU raised money for international student financial support.
“I don’t know how much money this raised, but it’s been a good time,” said Zach Peters, one of seven members on Team CMU’s support crew.
Thomas Epp, another support crew member, agreed.
“I’m thankful for the adventure,” he said. “Each day flew by so fast, and yet I felt like we were gone for quite a while.”
Two other teams, Team GoGos and Team Winnipeg Police, also participated in the event. Team WP withdrew from the event after the first day, and Team CMU passed Team GoGos in Brandon, Man.
Team CMU continually expressed its respect and admiration for Loewen throughout the duration of the race.
“He’s doing it all by himself,” Kevin Kilbrei said. “It’s pretty incredible.”
John Brubacher agreed.
“I’m blown away by Arvid,” he said.
Loewen is expected to ride into Winnipeg’s perimeter at 12:45 p.m. today and then finish at the Legislative building. Team CMU is planning to meet up with him there.
Stay tuned to www.hotpursuit2010.com for up-to-the-minute details on Loewen’s progress.
This was a biggie! All the way home. Sorry it’s a bit long and rough, but it seemed 5:15am was late enough to stay up.
The guys rolled into Winnipeg (finally! good ride guys!), and got to the Leg at 2:43am to a wonderful crowd! Thanks for ALL your support!
