Chris Huebner

Chris has been teaching philosophy and theology at CMU since 2000. He graduated from Canadian Mennonite Bible College in 1992. He is married to Rachel Klassen (CMBC 1992) and they have three children, Miriam, Jonah, and Marcus. They attend Charleswood Mennonite Church.

Chris has been racing bikes since 2002. He competes in mountain bikes races, where his primary goal is not to finish last in the Expert field. He does a bit better at cyclocross, where he is the current provincial champion in the men’s 40+ field. In addition to competitive cycling, Chris enjoys bike-related travel opportunities. He always brings along his cycling gear when he travels to conferences, just in case an opportunity to ride materializes, such as a mountain bike ride alongside monkeys in Bukit Kiara, an old rubber plantation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he was attending a meeting of the World Council of Churches.

Chris has found a number of ways to share his interest in cycling with the CMU community. He is one of the co-founders of Sanctoral Cycle, a staff and student run bike co-op that serves the many people who commute to CMU by bike. And he is the primary organizer of Menno Cross, a race in the Manitoba Cyclocross Series and also a highlight of the annual CMU Homecoming celebration. He also enjoys introducing kids to the sport of cycling through his involvement with the Wolseley Wheels kids mountain bike club.

What a race! Your guys are amazing. I just came back from my bike ride to UM. Took me 15 mins. one way, and already had a sore ‘b’. We will have to name a lake after you guys when you get back. Chris, you are a great team leader, and wish you all the best as you tackle the homeward stretch. Say Hi to chief cook. See you soon.

Do you ever not have fun riding?!
It’s been great being able to follow your progress and get little bits of the trip through twitter and video. Thanks to all your support people for that too.
