Craig Penner
Craig is originally from Wellesley, ON. He came to CMU through the Outtatown program, where he spent time in Guatemala. He graduated from CMU in 2007 with a BA in psychology. Craig is married to Courtney Reeves, a 2006 CMU graduate in International Development Studies. He is currently involved in renovation and maintenance work for a local management company. Craig and Courtney currently attend Good News Fellowship in Winnipeg.
Craig is a relative newcomer to the world of competitive cycling. He began doing some mountain bike races last spring, but really came into his own during the cyclocross season in the fall. In just his first year of racing, Craig is the 2010 provincial cyclocross champion in the men’s elite field. Prior to cycling, Craig spent 9 years competing in short track speed skating. He was a member of the Ontario provincial team for several years and set a number of provincial records, specializing in sprints and middle distances. In addition to considerably reducing the average age of Team CMU, Craig also supplies some much-needed fast twitch muscle fibre, just in case it should come down to a sprint.
