John Brubacher
John Brubacher is an assistant professor of Biology at Canadian Mennonite University. Originally from Waterloo, Ontario, he has been a cycling enthusiast for as long as he can remember. In addition to believing strongly in the importance of international education, he will be cycling this summer to help whip his body into shape, and see the Canadian West up close. Although he has spent time in the Alps, the foothills of the Himalayas, and the Appalachians, he has yet to set foot (or bicycle wheels) in the Coastal Mountains or Rockies. He can’t think of a better way to experience them for the first time than pedaling uphill in the middle of the night — preferably in a hailstorm.
While John has little competitive cycling experience, he has been working hard all winter at building up his body’s fat energy stores, and training through vigorous, semi-competitive curling.
Hi John,
Hope you enjoyed the Rockies – can’t believe anyone would BIKE throught them. Congratulations!

Congats to the CMU team! Must have been a great feeling for you to ride over the finish line, John. What a neat story to follow and to inspire.

Hey John,
Jo sent us the link. Way to go! All the best to the CMU team – may your wheels have WINGS. We wish you all safety and a great ride! Can’t help but love those “grannies”.
Hey John
We’ll have to get together at RV rehearsals and talk about long distance cycling. I had done some short trips and in 1977 did the trek from Winnipeg to Montreal. Some days , when a blond in a corvette drove past, I questioned the sanity of being on a tiny leather seat for 13 hours a day. Now I fondly remember that trip. Good luck. Look for Terry Masic, he is riding for the Police, I think.
